What do you like to do in your spare time?
Lots of things! But the thing I love most is getting outside. I have been a lifelong runner, and a free sunny day is best spent going on a long run or going for a swim outside. Since moving to Seattle, I’ve also joined a local soccer league. It’s a blast! While I’m not super experienced with soccer, every game is a chance to try my hardest and try new things and everyone on the team is there to have a fun time.
What do you enjoy about the design and construction industry?
I love the challenge of trying to work in so many different factors, like function, beauty, culture, community and environment and how to balance them. For instance, in my hometown of Santa Fe, all homes have to be built using the adobe style, what started as a traditional and logical way of building homes in the area turned into a defining part of the culture and aesthetic. So now when new buildings are made there has to be a balance with making something unique and also cohesive with its surrounding environment. I think this allows us to work towards making better buildings while still linking them with their roots.
Anything else unique about you that you’d like to share?
I love a dinner party, especially one with a good theme. I think cooking for friends and hosting people is one of the most fun things to do.
