Project Description

UH Kennedy Theatre

Preserving the historical space at the Kennedy Theatre was important for the university and meaningful to the community as a whole. CENSEO designed the new theatre pit lift using Spiralift technology by Gala Systems. This modern technology resolved the leaky system and eliminated the need for deep reservoirs. Spiralift technology includes a strong, self-erecting, stable column crafted with two bands of interconnecting stainless steal, making Spiralift a key component to some of the world’s top-rated platform lifts.

  • Client: University of Hawaii
  • Architect: Design Partners
  • Program: The 50-year-old orchestra  pit lift needed to be replaced. Reservoirs were drilled deep into the ground and system was slowly leaking. New pit lift was needed. Later in the project, acoustical testing in the theatre space was added.
